Folks are catching on to the appeal of Elizabeth City. A cable television show hosted by Terry Bradshaw, “Today in America,” will feature The Harbor of Hospitality in what will be a five minute segment the show calls “Hidden Gems.” Although there is no air date available just yet, the show will air nationally on the Fox Business Channel and regionally on CNN Headline News. Folks in Elizabeth City say it’s a great chance to get the community’s name out there. It’s a terrific opportunity to show people just how wonderful life in this historic town along the Pasquotank River can be. Football legend Terry Bradshaw will host the show from a studio and provide the narration for the segment. The segment will highlight the civic, economic development, education and quality of life of the area. Performance Chevrolet in Elizabeth City and OBX Fishing hosted a Donation Drop Off Event to benefit Hurricane Irene Victims this past week. Trey Colbert and William Carter spoke on the phone about how they could help with Victims of the storm. They decided to hold an event and publicize it via Facebook and within 24 hours they had 8 trucks filled with Water, Trash bags, Gloves, Gatorade, Pepsi, Clothes, Cleaning supplies and other necessities that locals would need.

The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $10,000 for the American Cancer Society. Cool Cars Crushing Cancer is a combination of contests, t-shirt sales, business sponsorships and partnerships, and the Cool Car Crushing Cancer Car Show, all of which will benefit the American Cancer Society!

Sponsorship Levels:

As a sponsor of Cool Cars Crushing Cancer, you will be able to donate at different sponsorship levels. Sponsorship levels will increase by the amount of donations they are willing to match to the American Cancer Society. Perry Auto Group is planning to match the first $3,500 of donations.  The American Red Cross is a community of service that is driven by donations from donors. Every minute of every day, someone needs blood and that blood can only come from a volunteer donor. When you make a blood donation, you join a very select group. Only 3 out of every 100 people in America donate blood.

Marty Mulholland, Faithful Navigator, Father Stanley Grubitz Fourth Degree Assembly of the Knights of Columbus, Elizabeth City, NC, has announced the selection of Mr. Wayne Perry, owner of Perry Auto Group, as the Knights of Columbus Patriot of the Month. He was presented with a Certificate of Recognition for his patriotic display of the American flag at his Carolina Chrysler and Performance Chevrolet automobile dealerships. Patriotism is one of the main precepts of the Fourth Degree Order of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Perry has been in the automotive business for forty years, opening his first dealership at the age of twenty-seven, becoming the youngest Toyota dealership owner in Elizabeth City, NC. The  Perry Auto family has several employees whose tenure has spanned a couple of generations.

Mr. Perry stated, “I like helping people”. This fact is reflected in the many charities and institutions he has supported over the years. He is a fixture in the Elizabeth City area and is well respected in this community. In the past, he has been a residential developer/builder, a race team owner, and an avid aviator who served on the board at the Elizabeth City Air Park.
